Welcome to Year 4!

Our class teacher is Miss Barron

We also have Mrs McMillan working in our classroom and Miss Montgomery on a Monday afternoon.

PE is every Monday and Thursday. Continuing from last year, all children need to come into school dressed in appropriate sportswear for outdoor PE lessons on these days. Children are expected to wear a white t-shirt and navy/black shorts or joggers.

Reading is very important in Year 4 and therefore children should be listened to at home by an adult as often as they can. Children will be given a bookmark to record their reading in school and at home. Children must always have their book in school.

Children will receive their spellings on a Friday evening, these will be assigned on Seesaw. Spelling tests will be on the following Friday morning. Spellings will be paperless and children will find their new spellings on Seesaw. Please encourage children to practise their spellings at home and use Spelling Shed.

Times tables are extremely important. Children need to be able to recall multiplication and division facts for all times tables. Please practice these at home regularly. All children have access to Times Table Rockstar and this is a fantastic tool to helping them learn and recall their tables.

I use Marvellous Me regularly to send messages and reminders as well as to let you know when your child/children are doing particularly well with a project or activity in school, including Star of the Week and Writer of the Week.

If you have any questions or queries throughout the year please do not hesitate to get in touch. Unfortunately, given the current situation we are not always easily available for quick chats. You can always contact us through the school telephone number and leave a message and we will get back to you.
